Bape Sizing and Fit Guide

Hoodies
Bape hoodies are the highlight of the brand and one of the primary reasons for the hype back in the 2000s. From Japan’s local market to international haul, hoodies are always in great demand. Hoodies are very comfy with pure cotton fabric. However, the sizing is not standard and may run smaller for the international market.

In lay terms, size up your Bape hoodie; for instance, if you wear a medium in other brands, go for a large in Bape. Another factor is pure cotton Which can shrink by over 10%, so it makes sense to size it up. Sizing up also gives a Relaxed look and is a perfect fit if you have a broad build.

Jackets
Bape jackets are generally true to size but can run smaller if you have a broad build. Sizing up also gives a more roomy fit and cancels out the shrinkage factor for pure cotton jackets, as they tend to shrink up to 10%, which can be problematic if you already have a snug fitting.

T-shirts & Tops
T-shirts, tops, and sweatshirts particularly run smaller for international markets. Hence always go one size up. For full-sleeve sweatshirts, you may face smaller sleeve issues, and if so, we advise going another half up (only if you have a broad build and above-average height).

Sneakers
Bape’s sneakers, widely known as Bapista, are another best-seller product. These are generally true to size. Don’t forget to convert the Bape’s universal size to your standard, i.e., US. If you have wider feet, consider going up half a size for extra room.

Pants & Shorts
Bape Pants, Sweatpants are true to size and fit very nicely and comfortably. But shorts run small and are also shorter than average American basketball shorts. Hence, you can size up accordingly. If you want a perfect and relaxed fit, go one size up, and if the length feels shorter, go another half-size up.

Is Bape True to Size?

Bape runs smaller in general for most of the Bape products. The reason is probably Japanese origin and the standard sizing chart respective to Japan, which may run smaller for a couple of international markets. If you doubt, in-store shopping will be your best way to rule out the size issue, or you can order two of the same BAPE pieces to compare and contrast sizing in the comfort of your home.
